Working Mechanism
Bacillus thuringiensis initially targets insect midgut cells, weakening the pest's immune system and increasing susceptibility to PrGV infection. The virus then enters the body, rapidly replicates, and spreads systemically, causing loss of crop-damaging capability and eventual death. PrGV continues to infect healthy pests and subsequent generations through body fluids and feces of deceased insects, creating sustainable long-term pest control similar to a viral plague.
